Q: How are you able to connect to my computer?
A: Using a technology called VNC, you are able to accept connections to your screen when you are online using a PIN code that we provide. If you are not using your computer, we cannot connect to it.
Q: Is it safe?
A: When we are connected to your computer, all the information is encrypted so that it can not be intercepted. So yes, it's safe.
Q: At what times will you be available?
A: Our hours are currently 7AM - 7PM PDT. We try very hard to maintain maximum availability during those hours. If your support request is outside of those hours or we are unavailable for some other reason, we will get back to you ASAP.
Q: I have a Mac but I'm not running Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard. Can I sign up for your service?
A: Yes. Our services work equally well for Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger and 10.5 Leopard. If you're unsure, please give us a call to determine if your computer is compatible.
Q: We have two computers. Will we need to sign up for two accounts?
A: Not necessarily. The service is intended to be associated with one user and is tied to the user's email address, but you can use the same account on both computers.
Q: Why would I sign up for your service, when I could just take my computer to a computer store?
A: It can be inconvenient to haul your computer to the store. Additionally, Orchard Remote can help with problems that are only occurring at your home or office. For example, Orchard Remote could help resolve a problem installing a printer driver, since your printer needs to be connected to your computer in order to troubleshoot. There are many other cases where troubleshooting in the computer's normal environment is best, and that's exactly what Orchard Remote offers!
